The Social Welfare Department
The Social Welfare Department (SWD) is the Labour and Welfare Bureau of the HKSAR Government's department responsible for the management of social welfare and other matters. Formerly known as the Bureau of Social Affairs Secretariat for Chinese Affairs Department, responsible for relief work. January 1, 1958 as an independent department, the incumbent Carol Yip, JP, Director of Social Welfare.
